Porta Pi Arcade: Acrylic Kit 9"

The Porta-Pi Arcade is a desktop-sized, fully functional, arcade cabinet measuring just under 13 x 9 x 10 inches (HxWxD).

This Porta-Pi Arcade is a DIY kit that turns your Raspberry Pi (or other tiny computer) in a fully functional Mini Arcade. All Kits include detailed instructions, with photos and diagrams showing how to assemble your tiny arcade.

The Porta Pi Arcade Full Kit Includes:

  • Precision Laser Cut Cabinet (your choice of colored Acrylic).
  • 9 inch (1024x600 HDMI/VGA/Composite) LCD screen
  • (1) Commercial arcade joystick (8-way micro-switch style)
  • (10) Commercial arcade buttons and micro-switches
  • Speakers (3" mid-range) with amplifier PCB (2W, Stereo Class D)
  • The appropriate power supply (5V @2A USA plug), cables, and adapters.
  • All misc wiring harnesses, connectors, and hardware.

Don't want to use a Raspberry Pi? No problem! The cabinet can accommodate small, older video game consoles. The joystick and buttons can be hard-wired to the console's controller turning it into a dedicated unit! Or, fit a mini-ITX motherboard inside and it becomes a super powered mini PC arcade!

There are various types of colored acrylic:
-Solid (opaque);
-Transparent (tinted/see-through);
-Fluorescent (aka neon) acrylic. This neon acrylic is the kind that has that edge-glow when light is shined into it. This type is usual shown in the photographs.

Make sure you pick the color you want. Full color selection from the supplier here. Contact me for a custom color.

You must provide the Raspberry Pi and an 8GB+ SD Card. This kit fits Raspberry Pi Model B and B+.

Tools required to assemble kit:

-Wire cutters/strippers
-Wire crimpers (22AWG)
-Soldering Iron

-Dremel (or similar rotary hand tool)

-Drill with countersink bit and one drill bit (for #8 sized hole)

Please note: Fully Assembled Acrylic Kits ship only to the 48 contiguous United States. International shipping is not available for Fully Assembled Acryic Kits. "Why?" They do not travel well.

The Porta Pi Arcade is available in three different types of DIY Kits.

How to Buy

These Kits are on a temporary discontiunation as of August 2016. I am devoting time to new products and these acrylic kits have been haulted to free up some time.

How to Assemble

Before you buy you should know what you're getting yourself into. This manual shows all the steps to build the arcade. I designed everything, I wrote the entire manual. No surprises here.  The manual includes:

  • Detailed steps, pictures, charts and illustrations explaining the assembly
  • Bill of Materials (list of parts)
  • Trouble shooting section
  •  How to download and install OS image to SD card

Did I mention you can download the entire manual for free?

Cabinet Panel Kits will take many hours to source parts and build.

Full Kits will take 6-8 hours to build. Lots of assembly is required.
Fully Assembled Kits will less than one hour to build. You only need to connect your Raspberry Pi.

Each kit is built-to-order. This means as an order is placed only then do I order the required acrylic. I do not stock these cabinet panels, so allow extra time for Arylic kits.

Please allow 3-6 weeks for delievery after payment.
International Shipping is available. Just click the "buy it now" button and paypal will give you the shipping cost before checkout.

Please read the description carefully. I have made some changes since the Kickstarter kits. These changes include less pre-assembly done on my end (you will need some hand tools). You need to provide the Raspberry Pi + SD card, unless you add them to your cart with a kit.
